Painting and Drawing: Artistic Creativity, Discovery and
Self Expression for All in a Balinese Context


The following materials are needed for the course. Participants may bring some or all of these along or, alternatively, they can be conveniently purchased in Bali either a day or two before commencement of the course or on the first day of the course. The course instructor will accompany and assist participants in this. Some art materials are less expensive in Bali than in Europe or the U.S.A. BCAC participants receive discounts from local art stores in Ubud.

  • Selection of pencils including colored pencils
  • Chalk pastels (not oil pastels)
  • Charcoal pencils - 2b + 4b
  • Watercolor set
  • Several pointed nylon bristle brushes- various sizes
  • Acrylic paint set (must include yellow, red, blue, white)
  • Watercolor paper or block/pad (optional)
  • Pen and Indian ink or drawing pen (rapidiograph)
  • One good quality A3 or A4 sketch pad with regular spiral binding
